Frequently Asked Questions

What ages are Learning Labs for?

All ages are encouraged to apply for Learning Labs — students will be grouped with on other members of a similar age.

How does a new group start?

Groups (called “Learning Labs”) begin as soon as 4 or more members agree to join a Learning Lab at a time and place! Learning Coach acts to organize applicants into like-aged groups with a group facilitator (“advisor”) in a location relevant to the group’s interest. Once a Learning Lab is “up and running” (with a consistent 4+ members), new students can join the class via drop-in.

When will you contact me about a group?

When there are enough members (of similar interests and similar ages), you will receive an email and phone call about potential start dates. In some cases, Learning Labs will reach out to you via phone to gather more information or answer questions submitted on your application. Otherwise, stay alert to the newsletter about upcoming opportunities!

What groups are currently active?

Please submit your email to the Learning Lab Monthly Newsletter for updates. Submit your student’s age and interests for notification when a group is ready!

What is the cost of Learning Lab groups?

Learning Lab groups are $35 for a drop-in fee, or $140 per month for weekly participation. Some groups may incur costs for materials and supplies.

What is the role of health insurance? DDA?

Health insurance plans cover Learning Coach therapeutic services for students who are experiencing an adverse impact on their daily living due to a neurological or psychological condition. Insurance plan providers may request documentation of the student condition from a primary care provider, the Student Health Center, or Counseling and Wellness Center to verify that services relate to a condition.

Students enrolled with DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration) may be eligible to have full monthly tuition waived. Ask your DDA case manager to inquire at (360) 207-4560.
